Intern Wrapped: Bringing Purpose to Life Through the Nonprofit Narrative Project
Intern Wrapped: The Nonprofit Narrative Project
At BW Productions, internships are about more than learning technical skills they’re about using storytelling to make an impact. To close out the internship cohort, our interns take on a Nonprofit Narrative Project (NPN), a capstone designed to blend creativity, collaboration, and purpose-driven storytelling.
This most recent project centered around Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah, captured the heart behind their mission and the powerful message: “The next match starts with you.” Through thoughtful planning, production, and collaboration, the interns brought this story to life in a powerful final piece.
The Nonprofit Narrative Project
The project challenges interns to work with a nonprofit of their choice to create a video that communicates mission, emotion, and impact. From concept development to final delivery, interns are responsible for shaping the story while guided by their BW Productions mentors.
The interns chose to partner with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah, because of their dedication to creating and supporting one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.
Meet the Interns Behind the Project
Christian Ingargiola - Video Production Intern

As the Video Production Intern, Christian played a key role in translating the project’s vision into a polished, emotionally resonant video. From adapting on set to refining the final edit, Christian excelled.
When asked his reflections on the experience, Christian said:
On adapting in fast-paced production environments:
“I learned that it is incredibly valuable to be able to pivot and adapt within a timely manner. Being able to make changes to issues as they arise and move swiftly along with them will be something I make use of for the rest of my career.
On collaboration:
“Working with my fellow intern, Zoey, helped to shape and craft a heartfelt narrative. Without Zoey’s diligent planning, thoughtful questions, and in-depth understanding of the goal of the project, the NPN would not have been what it turned out to be!”
Zoey Haug - Producing Intern

As the Producing Intern, Zoey led the project from a planning and storytelling perspective, helping guide the narrative and ensuring the project stayed aligned with the nonprofit’s mission and goals.
When asked about her experience, Zoey said:
On leading a project from start to finish:
"It was really rewarding to work on the NPN from start to finish. As an intern, it was a great experience to be able to take charge and make real decisions for a project. It made me feel so much more confident in my skills."
Advice for future interns:
"Choose a non-profit that’s meaningful to you! It’s so much more fun to get invested when if feels like you’re working on a project that really matters, to you and to the Non-profit. Getting to make something that will help others is so rewarding."
Storytelling With Purpose
This project is a strong example of what the Nonprofit Narrative Project is all about: empowering young professionals to tell meaningful stories that matter. Through collaboration, adaptability, and mentorship, Christian and Zoey created a piece that not only highlights the mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah, but also reflects the growth they experienced throughout their time at BW Productions.
We’re incredibly proud of the work our interns continue to produce and grateful to partner with organizations that are making a huge difference in our communities.
