Meet Our 2024 Summer Interns!

This month, we'd like to shine a light on our incredible intern cohort who bring fresh perspectives and boundless energy to our team. This summer we have six interns who are learning an array of skills from video production, to video editing, and photography! Let's meet them and hear about the valuable knowledge they're gaining from their talented mentors:

Video Production Interns:

Riley Mortenson and Zac Doggett have been soaking up knowledge from our very own video production guru, Alise King. They're rapidly developing their skills in everything; camera operation, audio capture, and lighting techniques. They've each had the opportunity to work on projects where they honed their technical skills. Zach mentioned, "One thing I've learned at BW is to be open to anything. BW has so many wonderful opportunities ready for anyone willing to find them. Not having tunnel vision has allowed me to meet cool people, experience amazing things, and learn various knowledge and skills." Riley has taken advantage of these opportunities as well saying, "I've really enjoyed all the different workshops we've gotten to do. Audio, gear/grip, resume building, and lighting have all been really fun." ‍

Producer Intern:

‍Kiernan Dunn is learning the ropes of project management and production coordination under the expert guidance of Mariah Salazar. From budgeting to client communication, she is gaining a well-rounded understanding of the producer's role. Kiernan is always ready to go the extra mile to make sure clients feel comfortable and confident during their experience on set. When asked about her time at BW Kiernan said, "My most unique experience as an intern for BW was going to a travel shoot with a small documentary crew I had never met. It was a big turning point in expanding my confidence as a storyteller/crew member and teaching me to not be afraid to say yes to opportunity!"

‍Photography Intern:

Angel Decker is honing her photographic eye under the mentorship of Becca Hofmann. Angel is learning the art of capturing stunning visuals that tell a story. Angel has captured many beautiful photos for our clients within the last two months and will be fully equipped with the technical skill needed to pursue her passions post-internship. When asked about her experience at BW Angel said, "Theres so many things I've enjoyed about interning at BW, but one of my favorite parts is learning about all aspects of media production in our weekly internship workshops. We’ve covered areas such as business, photography, lighting, networking, and more. I’m so grateful to have received such a wide range of knowledge in such a short amount of time!"

‍Editing Intern:

Sydney Harrison is transforming raw footage into compelling narratives with the help of editing extraordinaire, Lacey Duncan. Sydney is mastering the art of storytelling through the power of video editing. Her skills with DaVinci Resolve and Adobe After Effects are helping us to get clients their deliverables quickly. Sydney said, "I've especially enjoyed learning more about project prep and organization in the post production process!"

‍Business Development Intern:

Noah Pelo is learning the intricacies of sales and marketing in the video production industry under the guidance of our team leader, owner Brent Uberty. From crafting compelling pitches to understanding client needs, Noah is gaining a comprehensive understanding of how to build strong business relationships and drive growth for BW Productions. Noah mentioned, "I've really enjoyed going to networking events through the Salt lake Chamber and getting to know other professionals in Salt Lake that are dedicated to furthering our community values."
